Thanks for the advice, I actually found a way to get around it. I started the dark brotherhood quest (helped out Aventus kill Grelod, then waited 24 hours) and then found a pile of hay inside Irkngthand to sleep on. I was kidnapped by Astrid and Karliah/Brynjolf came with me. Weird and specific workaround but it works. Thanks for trying to help!
