The reason I asked about your route of travel is that there are likely better dry slot canyon options outside of the Zion area, especially with the restriction on travel you have with SR9 closed. Finding a dry, non-technical slot canyon this time of year will be difficult. Re: Mid-September Hiking in Zion. Best advice is to get going as early as possible. Part of it is to obviously beat the heat of the day, but not all of the hikes are exposed. Yah, pretty difficult to answer this without having the context of your trip as the parks are in completely different parts of the state. As a rule of thumb, Bryce is the easiest to absorb in a short amount of time.
