The reason I asked about your route of travel is that there are likely better dry slot canyon options outside of the Zion area, especially with the restriction on travel you have with SR9 closed. Finding a dry, non-technical slot canyon this time of year will be difficult. At a minimum, you should go into this planning to get at least your feet ...For one or two nights, the price difference is so small that we want the best experience. We are 2 adults and a 12 year old. The cabin seems like a great idea since it will be cool in beg. April and we might be able to use the fireplace. Re: Mid-September Hiking in Zion. Best advice is to get going as early as possible. Part of it is to obviously beat the heat of the day, but not all of the hikes are exposed. South campground is the only reservable campground in Zion. You can make reservations two weeks prior to arrival. The others are first come first serve. Doubt you wil need reservations in December. Coming from Page, Arizona to Zion, you will be asked to show your pass at the east entrance. The scenic route is driving highway 12 from Bryce to highway 89 and then highway 9 to Zion. That brings you in to Zion through the iconic east entrance and allows you to enjoy the scenery/viewpoints on the east side of the park. Yah, pretty difficult to answer this without having the context of your trip as the parks are in completely different parts of the state. As a rule of thumb, Bryce is the easiest to absorb in a short amount of time.
